anonymous submitted: An Anon's thoughts regarding Hux in TROS
:( Hux was done so dirty in TROS! He only has what, three minutes of screen-time? Oh and he’s now suddenly feeding The Resistance information because… he just hates Kylo THAT much apparently? I’m all for Hux being petty, but I honestly would’ve expected him to organize a coup against Kylo rather then betray the only life he’s ever known and 100% believes in?!
It’s just a weird take and I’m wondering if it was only done that way to get Hux out of the picture as quickly as possible, so Pryde could take his place? Which in itself is also quite strange considering Pryde… barely did anything and frankly what little he did do could've easily been accomplished by Hux.
Pryde’s character just seemed to be “there” for the sake of being there. And worst of all, he’s not the only character in the movie who feels like that! Ugh, I swear to god that TROS introduced more narratively unnecessary characters than TLJ did!
Alright, but now for some positivity!
Admittedly I did like that Hux was able to take down three Stormtroopers before any of them had a chance to fire a single shot against them… Although I would’ve liked to have actually SEEN him do that and not just have it occur off-screen.
I was also amused by everyone’s reaction to him revealing himself to be the spy… and my Gingerpilot heart may have been squeeing the entire time because hey, he and Poe got a chance to interact again!
This also might sound weird, but I also kind of like how Hux’s death was done? Yeah sure, Pryde did shoot him in the chest at nearly point blank range… but I think theirs enough wiggle room for some ambiguity regarding whether Hux actually died!
I realize that the line Pryde said immediately afterwards “Tell the Supreme Leader that I found our spy.” (Or something along those lines anyway) was probably intended to imply that Pryde was going to tell Kylo that Hux was the spy, but not to worry about any further leaks since he killed him.
BUT! One can also infer that Pryde meant to tell Kylo that Hux is the spy, but not to worry about any further leaks since he’s neutralized him for Kylo to deal with at his leisure! Yep, I think that one can make a reasonable enough argument that Pryde merely STUNNED Hux in that scene! Not kill him!
Lol, which bursts the door right open for ways for Hux to survive the rest of the movie. Because I’m sure Hux is crafty enough to escape from any kind of cell Pryde would have him locked up in…. Or perhaps he still has officers loyal to him but not to Pryde or Kylo, officers who wouldn’t want their General to be executed….
I’m sure you get what I mean.
Anyway, the only other thing I liked was Finn shooting Hux in the knee and not the shoulder like Hux requested him to do. Lol, as much as I love Hux, he’s still responsible for making Finn’s childhood presumably horrible and since I rather like Finn, seeing him get to injury Hux was satisfying.
But yeah, the good doesn’t really out-weight the bad when it comes to TROS for me imho. But I think I’ve rambled enough, hope to hear your thoughts on the film as well!
#submission#tros spoilers#the rise of skywalker spoilers#I agree with a lot of what you've said anon#there was NO REASON why hux couldn't have done what pryde did#wouldn't hux be loyal to palpatine because he comes from an imperial background?#if hux thought he could be allied with the ex-emperor with the promise of power for himself then wouldn't he do that?#thank you for sharing your thoughts!!! <3
